Collide (Volume 1) by Gail McHugh

Reviewed by Lady

First of all, let me give credit to the author Gail McHugh who wrote this book, this Collide series. She is fucking amazing!!!! I don’t care what the 1,2 or 3 star reviewers says. Don’t you dare judge unless you have a freaking book to publish. I doubt anyone of you have a creative bone in you. Before this series, there’s no Mr Tall, Dark, and Fuckable Handsome, bottle caps, Yankee loving, 20 questions Gavin Blake. Someone who create such an amazing character and come up with a quote like these below deserved to be praised and recognized. Thank you Gail McHugh for sharing your creative mind and Gavin Blake with all of us.

“I’ve never felt so heartbroken and so in love at the same time. If you would’ve told me the day we met that you were going to break my heart— and that days, months, or even years would pass, that I would still be hurting like this—it wouldn’t have stopped me from falling in love with you.” ~ Gavin Blake

“Ever part of you was made for me. Your lips were made to kiss mine, your eyes were made to wake up to me looking at you in my bed every morning, and your fucking tongue was made to roll my name off of it. I am more certain of us than I’m certain that I require oxygen to breathe.” ~ Gavin Blake

I have to honestly say I didn’t go searching for this book. I accidentally stumbled upon it. After reading the book description, I had to read it, you want to know why? Firstly, the name Gavin. Not a very common name I have to say, meant a lot to me. I once had a Gavin in my life but not anymore. Our story did not have a happy ending, it actually ended pretty disastrously via messenger. Who does that? Find some balls and tell it to my face!! The bizarre thing is we used to play 20 questions too. Sigh… Secondly, my mother passed away from breast cancer 6 years ago after fighting it for 7 years. This book and I have so much in common, means so much to me, therefore it will aways be close to my heart. Sorry for being so emotional. Anyway, back to why we are here, feature my review.

5 Shmexy Stars!! Actually, this book deserves more than 5 brilliant stars. This book is perfection.

“Here’s to bottle caps, the Yankees, and ‘birds’, and most of all”…he paused and lowered his voice to a whisper..” and, most of all to a beautiful girl named Molly who refuses to believe the man-the man who loves her more than she’ll ever know” ~ Gavin Blake

Emily Cooper moves to New York to be with her boyfriend Dillon Parker after her mom passed away from breast cancer. Two short weeks after arriving in New York, Emily managed to get a summer job as a waitress at an Italian restaurant located in Midtown Manhattan. Thank god for delivery boy quitting!! Fate brought the tall and devastatingly beautiful man which we will soon come to know as Mr Tall, Dark, and Fuckable Handsome Gavin Blake and Emily together meeting for the first time. Do I hear fireworks????

“Nope, there’s shmexy, and there’s sexy. And you, my friend, are shmexy.” ~ Emily Cooper

Gavin Blake is gorgeous, smoking hot, sexy, totally irresistible and completely fuckable. He may be the ultimate wealthy as fuck of a playboy but as the story progresses, you will see and learn that he’s actually very shmexy, charming, sentimental, charismatic, confident, noble, intense, loving, understanding and brilliant. To further add more yumminess to this gorgeous man, he had an intricate black dragon tattoo that snaked its way up from below his waist and curled around his left ribcage. Mmm……Holy HOTNESS!!!

“Jesus!” she let out louder than anticipated.

“No, it’s Gavin. Gavin Blake,” he deadpanned, reaching for a beer from a six-pack on the floor. “Although, in certain private one-on-one situations, I’ve been referred to as God,” he laughed.”

Gavin Blake is every women’s wet dream, me included. Sounds silly but I am so in love with him. He is just absolutely perfect. From the moment I finished reading this book, I made up my mind and proud to say that Mr. Gavin Blake is definitely my NO. 1 book boyfriend without a doubt. How can you not be in love with a man that say such sweet words?

“Damn it, Emily, I want us! You belong with me, not him.” ~ Gavin Blake

“A faint smile touched Emily’s mouth. “You want kids?”

“I want bucketloads tucked neatly into a minivan,” he laughed.

“Gavin Blake in a minivan?”

“Absolutely,” he replied, reaching for his beer. “A funky forest green one, too.”

“I want it all, Emily. I want to spend my nights holding hands with you,” he breathed the words into her ear. “I want the all-day texting.” He kissed her temple and caressed her cheek. “I want the laughing and the forehead kisses.” He softly ran his lips over her forehead. “I want the date nights, the movie watching, and the breakfast making.” He dragged his hands through her hair, his teeth tugging gently at her bottom lip. “I want the late-night drives, the sunset watching, the screaming, the yelling, and the crying.” Still kissing her, he smiled against her mouth. “I know I’ll definitely want the make up sex that comes after the screaming and the crying. In want the good, the bad and the in between. All of it is what’s going to make us amazing together,” ~ Gavin

Dillon Parker is a douche of a boyfriend. I just love Olivia who is Emily’s BFF so much for coming up with all these appropriate names for him like Dill-Pickle, Donkey-Dick-Kong, Dick, Dillweed, Douchebag, Douchepickle, Dickhead, Douchebucket and many more throughout the book. See my point? At some point in the book, I just want to jump into the book and right hook this asshole and knock some serious sense into Emily.

‘You sound like a whiney sorority girl.” ~ Dillon Parker

“I moved you out here on my dime. What more do you want from me?” ~ Dillon Parker

What a douchepickle!!

Now…what is a love story without some love triangle drama, huh? Follow Gavin, Emily and Dillon through heaps of ups and downs; hot seduction, major misunderstanding, intense love, frustrations, betrayal, lust and jealousy. Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a roller-coaster ride you will never forget.

I didn’t want Collide to end especially the way it did, a devastating cliffhanger. So I waited…and waited…and waited……………
