Due to circumstances beyond my control this post went up way later than I intended it too. Also, because of said circumstances the book was started late as it had to change hands and I have only gotten halfway through it. That being said I will be reviewing based on what I have already read and when I am finished put my full review up. I sincerely apologize to the author and readers for this blunder – Chick
“We are all pawns in someone else’s game.”
No one knows this better than Violet Phillips. When her beloved mentor goes missing, she suspects murder, which sends her spiraling out of control and away from the stable life she has built for herself. Soon, her past will begin seeping out with a vengeance.
“I will teach you how this game is played.”
Self-destruction threatens to consume Violet when a handsome neighbor that has been watching her from afar intervenes on her behalf. Shepard Leone may be six years younger, but it does not stop him from seducing her ears as well as her heart.
“Fascinating how much life can change in twenty-four hours.”
When Violet is forced to go down a dark road into a past where she must confront the demons that nearly destroyed her, will she be unable to deviate? Struggling with the loss of her missing friend, Shepard will find a way in and reawaken desires that she thought were forever lost. But Violet never forgets that if you are not careful, distractions will be your undoing.
This book intrigued me from the get go. Honestly anyone that uses the words bodice and breasts within the first few sentences when I know very well it isn’t a classic book has got my attention. The well crafted wordplay and plot line with the intermingling medley of sex and deceit. It is a dance to its own solo violinist. It is Violet and Shepard. I have not yet gotten to delve into the past but I have a feel the ride with Conner is going to be a highly bumpy one. There are already so many characters than make such a difference in Violets life even in the smallest ways, I wonder what is to happen when the one who made the biggest difference shows up…Only time will tell
